Prosper group appoints first international affiliate partner

Prosper-Group

Prosper Group, the fast-growing U.S.-based consultancy for public relations and marketing communications agencies, has appointed Michael Murphy & Ltd as its first international affiliate partner.

Prosper, formed in 2013 by founding partners Alex Halbur and David Bosses, now has 14 senior professional staff and consultants based in six locations throughout the U.S. It provides growth and M & A advisory services to more than 50 agencies ranging in size from $1 million to $100 million.

Announcing the international expansion, Alex Halbur, Managing Partner, said: “Over the past five years we have grown rapidly in the U.S. market. There is a clear appetite from agency owners to call on outside counsel to help them to grow and improve their businesses, develop talent, hone their offerings, deal with succession planning and examine exit routes.

“As the pace of change in the agency landscape continues to accelerate, agencies need to quickly adapt and transform, or they will be left behind. As a result, we have assembled a team of highly experienced former agency leaders who, between them, have many decades of experience running their own businesses and working for industry leaders.

“To date, our services have largely been confined to the U.S. market. We now want to increase our offer so that we can counsel U.S. agencies who wish to expand and develop internationally, as well as supporting international firms who wish to build a presence in the U.S.

“The appointment of Michael Murphy and his firm as an international affiliate is the first step in building out our global offering. Michael has an enviable reputation, decades of experience and a global network, which is second to none.”

Commenting on the affiliation, Murphy said: “When I first met Alex and some of his colleagues it was obvious that we shared the same values and culture.  I pride myself in my partnerships around the world, so the affiliation with Prosper Group will allow me to further leverage our joint expertise for the benefit of agency owners.”

Prosper Group’s current consultants include:

Rich Jernstedt, former CEO of GolinHarris (now Golin); Kathy Cripps, ex-President of the PR Council; John Seng, former owner of Spectrum Science Communications: Mark Johnson, a former agency owner and consultant; Brian Curran, a former senior executive at Omnicom, who works with a broad range of marketing communications agency owners; Robert Berra, a PR industry veteran who worked with Alex Halbur at Fischer Health; Bruce Bishop, former CFO at UK based holding group Next Fifteen; Doug Baxter, an advertising and digital agency founder, who leads the company’s digital practice.
